Seed Preparation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Seed Preparation Specialist to join our team at II-VI Incorporated. As a Seed Preparation Specialist, you will be responsible for performing seed preparation and related technological processes in accordance with instructions from the Supervisor, Process Engineer, and lead operator.
Key Responsibilities- Perform seed etching, lapping, polishing, cleaning, mounting, loading furnaces, reporting, and data entry in accordance with established procedures.
- Monitor ovens, hot plates, and furnace temperature, and maintain accurate logs of process parameters on seed preparation sheets and in the database.
- Maintain raw material, graphite, glue, gaskets, bottles, and spare parts inventories.
- Support the evolution and maintenance of ISO-compliant Seed Preparation and anneal room procedures.
- Ensure Seed Preparation areas are clean and maintain a quality work environment, adhering to safety and health regulations and procedures.
- Record and report process performance in a timely and accurate manner.
- Adapt to changes in work caused by new requirements and/or situations.
- Effectively communicate with team members and management to ensure seamless project execution.
- High school graduate; college-level courses in math, physics, metrology, chemistry, or computer literacy are a plus.
- 1-3 years of mechanical/electrical/chemical trades experience; some lab experience is a plus.
- Experience with problem analysis and resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results independently or working with others.
- Ability to recommend and implement improvements.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with networked PC-based computer systems (MS Office, spreadsheets, access, graphics, email, MRP systems, and accounting software).
- Must be technically inclined with good mechanical skills.
- Must have the aptitude to make decisions that affect downstream process quality.
- Well-organized with the ability to perform multiple tasks in parallel and work with minimal supervision.
- Capable of data entry in paper and digital formats.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities involving external and internal priorities.
- Ability to excel in a cross-organizational, cross-cultural, and global team environment.
- Set a high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, and competency.
- Provides and supports the evolution and operation of an EHS program.
- Actively supports company-wide environmental, health, and safety programs.
- Quickly responds to report or correct any environmental, health, and safety hazard.
- Manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to work in a laboratory environment.
- Ability to work at a computer.
- Must be prepared to work flexible hours, evenings, and weekends as part of the normal work schedule.
