Job Summary

MelroseWakefield Hospital, part of the Tufts Medicine system, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Operating Room Aide I to join our team. As a key member of our perioperative care team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical suites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with room turnover, including wiping down and docking Neptune's, setting up specialized equipment and O.R. tables for next case.
  • Transport patients, equipment, and supplies to and from the O.R. suite and other areas of the hospital.
  • Work as a liaison with Central Processing to ensure delivery of kits and sterile items throughout the surgical case.
  • Transport blood products and specimens to and from their respective locations.
  • Assist with patient transfers from the O.R. table to the patient's bed under the clinical care team's guidance.
  • Ensure the O.R. table and positioning devices are safely secured and ready to support a patient.
  • Maintain cleanliness of procedural areas, including inner and outer core zones of the surgical suites.
  • Monitor PSI levels on tank gauges and respond to alarms.
  • Responsible for fluid and linen re-stocking and maintenance inside O.R. room warmers and fluid carts.
  • Return unopened case carts, kits, and scopes to Central Processing and assist with the return of used/dirty case carts to the decontamination area.
  • General maintenance of all biohazard sharps containers.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Associate's degree or one year of experience working in an operating room or surgical area in a hospital.
