Job Summary

KLM Careers is seeking a highly skilled Welding Process Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for planning, managing, and maintaining production methods for forming and weld equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine equipment, processes, operations, and procedures to identify improvement opportunities in areas of safety, quality, throughput, and cost.
  • Implement changes and modify operation standards to optimize production efficiency.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals for new equipment purchases to ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Select and implement suitable manufacturing processes and apply modern organizational principles to make products at a competitive cost.
  • Identify and optimize current and new manufacturing processes using continuous improvement techniques.
  • Work closely with production and maintenance teams to ensure equipment is operating in a like-new condition.
  • Conduct Capability Studies and perform Time Studies to analyze process efficiency.
  • Develop and implement Visual Work Instructions to improve process clarity.
  • Provide production support and process troubleshooting to resolve issues promptly.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and implement strategies to achieve savings.
  • Specify tools, jigs, and fixtures to support manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinate projects and provide daily troubleshooting to ensure smooth operations.
  • Participate in Kaizen events to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • BS in Material Science, Mechanical, Welding, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or combined related experience.
  • 2-4 years of engineering project experience in a metal manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing techniques, capability studies, process mapping, FMEA, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to take a project lead role and work effectively in a fast-paced, continuous improvement culture.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with aggressive deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of complex process interactions.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Creo and AutoCAD skills a strong plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Creo and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
