Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Chilled Water Systems Controls Engineer to join our team at the University of North Carolina. As a key member of our Energy Services department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the controls systems for our chilled water systems. This is a unique opportunity to work on a complex and dynamic system that requires a high level of technical expertise and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain controls systems for chilled water systems, including chillers, cooling towers, and pumps.
  • Develop and implement control strategies to optimize system performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of controls systems with other systems and processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to controls systems.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and training materials for controls systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or computer science.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in controls systems design, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of controls systems, including SCADA systems, historians, and programming languages.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with large, chilled water systems.
  • Knowledge of cooling towers, chillers, pumps, filtration systems, air handlers, air compressors, and instrumentation.
  • Programming experience with DCS and SCADA.
  • Statistics and data analytics experience.
