Job Summary

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a highly skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our Diagnostic Imaging team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular, and cardiac procedures/studies, accurately differentiating between normal and pathologic findings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate ultrasound equipment to perform diagnostic procedures, ensuring accurate and high-quality images.
  • Review patient medical records to obtain necessary clinical information, including patient history, lab results, and physician orders.
  • Position patients and select proper transducers and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information, and images.
  • Accurately identify and label images, including patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with regulatory agencies and enter patient and study information into the radiology information system.
  • Communicate findings to physicians, synthesizing sonographic information and medical history.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure high-quality patient care and optimal departmental performance.
Requirements
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) within 3 months.
  • Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Med Sonography (ARDMS) within 3 months.
  • Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within 3 months.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
  • Advanced training beyond High School in Sonography, including completion of an accredited or approved program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Competency in all general and/or vascular sonographic procedures routinely performed in the hiring department.
  • Ability to use independent judgment to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, work independently, and manage simultaneous assignments.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Must have clear speech, vision, and hearing.
