Role Summary:
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is a skilled respiratory care professional equipped with advanced assessment and therapeutic capabilities, providing care across diverse patient demographics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care through effective collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Implement respiratory therapy independently, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Administer and evaluate responses to respiratory therapeutic interventions, including aerosol therapy, oxygen therapy, and bronchopulmonary hygiene.
- Monitor and assess the efficacy of respiratory therapy treatment plans by observing and documenting patient progress.
- Manage mechanical ventilation, including measuring ventilator volumes and conducting blood gas analyses.
- Communicate and coordinate care plans with healthcare team members, maintaining MWHC standards.
- Ensure proper operation of respiratory equipment through setup, cleaning, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Provide education and training to patients and their families regarding respiratory care.
- Uphold safety protocols to protect patients and staff, adhering to hospital policies.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in good standing within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist certification required within one year of hire.
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care program preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience in respiratory therapy preferred, with NICU experience being advantageous.
- Additional qualifications for Stafford Hospital Respiratory Therapy include NRP healthcare provider certification within 90 days of hire.
