Position Overview:

As a Nuclear Safety Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the security and safety of our nuclear facilities. Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing access control and ensuring that all individuals entering sensitive areas are properly vetted.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage the entry of personnel into restricted zones by verifying their identity and authorization.
  • Conduct thorough searches of individuals and vehicles in compliance with security protocols.
  • Respond promptly to security alarms and incidents, collaborating with the response team as necessary.
  • Implement preventive measures to deter unauthorized access to critical areas.
  • Perform regular patrols of the facility to ensure compliance with safety and security standards.
  • Document all patrol activities and report any security breaches or safety hazards.
  • Assist in emergency situations, providing support until relieved by appropriate personnel.
  • Serve as an armed escort when required, ensuring the safe transport of individuals and materials.
  • Operate company vehicles during patrols of designated areas.
  • Conduct operational tests on security equipment as per established procedures.

Work Schedule:

This position requires flexibility, including the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays, as well as responding to emergency situations as needed.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED is required.

Experience: Previous experience in commercial, military, or law enforcement security is preferred.

Skills: Candidates must meet NRC psychological testing standards and fulfill all regulatory requirements for unescorted access. Physical stamina for walking and climbing is essential.

Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills are necessary to interact with diverse groups and manage challenging situations with professionalism.

Licenses: A valid state driver's license is required, along with the ability to meet company driving standards.
