Position Overview

As a Hospitalist Physician at South Shore Health, you will report directly to the Chief of the Department of Medicine through the Hospitalist Program directors. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver exceptional medical services with integrity and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Provide clinically appropriate care, ensuring prompt responses to emergency consults and attendance at all critical situations. Demonstrate compassion and professionalism in all patient interactions while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Communication: Keep patients and their families informed about medical conditions and treatment plans. Maintain clear communication with fellow hospitalists and primary care physicians regarding patient status and ongoing issues.
  • Documentation: Ensure thorough and accurate documentation of patient admissions, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Adhere to institutional policies regarding medical records and coding standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster a cooperative working environment by establishing strong relationships with case managers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals. Participate actively in team meetings and contribute to the growth of the practice.
  • Efficiency: Meet productivity expectations for patient admissions and rounds. Manage clinical priorities effectively to ensure timely discharges.

Qualifications

Minimum education includes a Medical Degree from an accredited institution, with internship and residency training in Internal Medicine or Family Practice. Candidates must possess ACLS certification and a DEA number for prescribing medications. A flexible schedule is required to accommodate varying shifts.

Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is essential, along with a strong background in direct patient care.
