Position Overview: The PSE Energy Resources team is seeking a dynamic individual to spearhead the execution of multidisciplinary Solar Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This role emphasizes electrical design and requires a balance of engineering, business development, and project management skills. We are looking for a proactive and innovative professional who thrives in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and engineer large-scale PV solar systems and energy storage projects ranging from 5MW to over 100MW.
- Provide expert guidance to utilities on integrating renewable energy resources into their infrastructure.
- Stay informed about current and emerging technologies that influence the future of energy systems.
- Prepare comprehensive engineering construction documents and detailed equipment specifications.
- Contribute to the development of internal engineering standards and processes.
- Coordinate design efforts across multiple teams and locations.
- Occasionally visit project sites to collect essential data.
- Engage in writing technical papers and reports.
- Conduct various system studies, including load flow and short circuit analyses.
- Communicate project status and updates to stakeholders effectively.
- Ensure quality assurance in design work through established QA/QC methods.
- Mentor and train junior engineering staff.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing utility-scale solar PV and/or energy storage systems.
- Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one in a timely manner.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, SKM, ETAP, and SEL Relays.
- Familiarity with design codes such as NEC and International Building Codes.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong project management capabilities with a focus on prioritization.
- Highly organized with attention to detail.
- Able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
- NABCEP certification or willingness to obtain it.
