Clinical Laboratory Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Supervisor to lead our Blood Bank department at MelroseWakefield Hospital in Melrose, MA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Blood Bank, ensuring accurate and timely laboratory testing, and supervising a team of laboratory personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and manage the Blood Bank department, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and laboratory policies.
- Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and optimize laboratory workflow, ensuring adequate assay coverage and efficient use of resources.
- Responsible for staffing, scheduling, and payroll management for the Blood Bank department.
- Research and resolve production errors, escalating issues as necessary to ensure quality and patient safety.
- Engage in continuous process and service level improvements, ensuring alignment with LabCorp's mission and values.
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained through Quality Control, and prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents.
- Evaluate new process improvements and make recommendations to enhance laboratory operations.
- Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development and growth.
- Perform bench work as needed and maintain proficiency/competency in technical operations.
- Ensure all work is in accordance with state and Federal regulations, and administer and manage policies and procedures.
- Process and maintain payroll and personnel files, and perform administrative duties as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Technologist/Technician in Blood Bank, with previous supervisor/leadership experience highly preferred.
- ASCP and/or AMT Certifications are a plus, and strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and relevant state regulations is required.
- Understanding of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures, as well as proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a high level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment, and ability to handle the physical requirements of the position.
