Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough preoperative assessments, reviewing medical histories, allergies, and verifying consent.
- Ensure patients are properly positioned, sterilely draped, and receive appropriate surgical site verification in collaboration with the surgical team.
- Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring sterility and functionality.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive surgical records, including documentation of medications, procedures, and patient responses.
- Facilitate effective communication among surgical team members, ensuring a seamless surgical experience.
- Act as the patient's advocate during surgery, monitoring their safety, comfort, and adherence to infection control protocols.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, such as equipment malfunctions or changes in patient status.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in surgical techniques, equipment, and best practices through ongoing training and education.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current registered nurse licensure in the state of New York.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
- Two Years perioperative services experience preferred.
- Experience circulating in an operating room setting supporting orthopedic surgeries preferred.
- Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification preferred.
