Job Summary

As a Perioperative Nurse at Excelsior Orthopaedics Group, you will provide high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgery, ensuring a safe and smooth experience for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough preoperative assessments, reviewing medical histories, allergies, and verifying consent.
  • Ensure patients are properly positioned, sterilely draped, and receive appropriate surgical site verification in collaboration with the surgical team.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring sterility and functionality.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive surgical records, including documentation of medications, procedures, and patient responses.
  • Facilitate effective communication among surgical team members, ensuring a seamless surgical experience.
  • Act as the patient's advocate during surgery, monitoring their safety, comfort, and adherence to infection control protocols.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, such as equipment malfunctions or changes in patient status.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in surgical techniques, equipment, and best practices through ongoing training and education.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current registered nurse licensure in the state of New York.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
  • Two Years perioperative services experience preferred.
  • Experience circulating in an operating room setting supporting orthopedic surgeries preferred.
  • Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification preferred.
