The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is a leading non-profit organization in the city, dedicated to providing education, wellness, youth development, and community-building services. As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our mission by working as an Aquatics Coordinator at our Ed Isakson / Alpharetta YMCA location.

We are seeking an experienced and skilled individual to join our team in this role. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies, maintaining the pool in accordance with standards set forth by the Aquatics Department and the Georgia Health Department.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain schedules for aquatics staff for all shifts, including opening and closing responsibility.
  • Develop and maintain all aquatic programming and initiatives, creating and maintaining program calendars and schedules.
  • Ensure day-to-day compliance with all programs and applicable certification standards.
  • Enforce rules and regulations of the YMCA and aquatics department, including maintaining pool chemical balance.
  • Comply with all YMCA and Health Department standards, ensuring pool cleanliness with aquatics staff.
  • Report any mechanical needs to Branch Executive and/or support services.
  • Check and record pool chemistry, discussing related chemistry or mechanical concerns with Branch Executive and support services.
  • Train staff in proper emergency policies and procedures through regular in-services.
  • Maintain constant surveillance of the water and deck.
  • Complete incident reports properly and submit them to Branch Leadership.
  • Provide exceptional service to YMCA members, addressing their questions and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings, trainings, and events.
Requirements:
  • An associate degree in public administration, exercise science, or a related field, or a high school diploma and 1+ years of aquatics experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Current lifeguard certification.
  • Certified Pool Operator (within 6 months of hire).
  • Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and Oxygen (02) Training, and First Aid/CPR training within 30 days of hire.
  • Maintain certification or re-certification and/or take CECs.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Effective problem-solving skills, multi-tasking, and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service experience/standards.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Y-USA Leader Certification (within 90 days of hire).
  • Understanding of risk management issues and safety requirements for the facility.
  • Able to represent the YMCA in a mature and professional manner, upholding the organization's values, philosophies, and ideals.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience in an aquatics leadership role.
  • Current YMCA Lifeguard Instructor, ASHI Instructor, and/or YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Trainer Certification.

This is a full-time position, with an estimated annual salary range of $45,000 - $60,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
