Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Intern to join our team at Whiting-Turner Contracting Company. As an EH&S Intern, you will assist project teams in managing EH&S programs on construction projects, gaining hands-on practical experience in the construction EH&S field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in safety onboarding and safety meeting processes
  • Perform regular job site inspections to identify, document, and recommend mitigation of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions
  • Evaluate various planning/permits for effective and appropriate mitigation techniques
  • Assist in incident investigations, including interviews, data compilation, photographs, and completing proper documentation
Working Conditions
  • Work is conducted in both indoor office settings and outdoor construction job site settings, requiring sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending
  • Work hours will be determined at the project or work assignment basis
  • Noise level varies based on location
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs
  • Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required
Requirements
  • Pursuing a degree in environmental health and safety management or a closely related field of study
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Experience with construction projects, mechanical/electrical systems, building materials, building mechanics, or working with craft workers
