Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Information Security Architect to join our team at KLH Consulting, Inc. in Santa Rosa, California. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of our information security strategy.

About the Role:

  • We estimate the salary for this position to be around $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.
  • You will work collaboratively with our NOC team and other senior technical staff to develop and implement effective security measures to protect our clients' networks and data.
  • This role requires direct interaction with customers and may involve occasional extended shifts as needed.
  • You will be responsible for monitoring network traffic and activity for anomalies and threats, performing scans and security assessments, and documenting potential security risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Experience with SIEM platforms, vulnerability scanning solutions, and cybersecurity tools is essential.
  • You will contribute to our security committee responsible for protecting company data and sensitive information.
  • This role involves day-to-day monitoring of unusual activities, review of defensive protocols, and reporting of incidents.
  • You will perform daily management of SIEM, vulnerability scans, intrusion detection systems, data encryption, and other security controls.
  • Assisting KLH Staff, including Account Managers, in employee training with a security-first mindset is also part of this role.
  • Collaboration with other senior staff and the NOC team to develop new protocols, protections, and proactive systems for staying ahead of cybercriminals is required.
  • Maintaining documentation of security guidelines, procedures, standards, and controls is essential.
  • Running weekly security reports and maintaining knowledge of current cybercrime tactics is also required.
  • Monthly reports to support NOC service programs are another responsibility.
  • Following established processes for assessing and prioritizing workflow, remediation, and escalation paths is crucial.
  • Clearly communicating with internal and external customers regarding projects, security implementations, and issues is necessary.
  • Using the ticketing system to document requests, issues, and resolutions is also required.
  • This role involves a combination of security program work, project work, service tickets, and program management, common areas being security education, endpoint security architecture, and general remote monitoring & maintenance.
  • You will contribute to KLH's 2FA, EDR, Anti-Spam, mail flow, phish, URL content filtering, disk encryption, and other security programs.
  • Implementing security policies and protocols and identifying deviations from acceptable configurations or policy is required.
  • Writing reports on efficacy of current security policies, incident responses, disaster recovery plans, and other security-related information is also part of this role.
  • Detecting and managing cyber-attacks while minimizing damage, recovery time, and total cost is crucial.
  • Implementing firewalls rules, IDS/IPS, SIEM, DLP, or endpoint security solutions to reduce malicious attacks is required.
  • Performing engineering work, such as documenting system configurations, performing system installations, troubleshooting network problems, securing network systems, and configuring routing/switching equipment and hosted IP services, is also part of this role.
  • Monitoring networks and systems for security breaches or intrusions is essential.
  • Proficiency in writing scripts to deploy software to clients for various projects is required.
  • Performing all duties in accord with the Company's policies, procedures, and customer contracts is necessary.
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities will be provided to ensure your continued growth and success in this role.
Qualifications and Skills
  • At least one year of experience working with SIEM platforms.
  • Knowledge of architecture and operations of at least one SIEM platform.
  • Experience creating workflows for Incident Response and SIEM.
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning solutions.
  • Multiple years of experience using cybersecurity tools.
  • Knowledge of network routing and storage systems.
  • Experienced with current network environments and operations; physical, virtual, and cloud.
  • Experienced with current Windows server and desktop OS, VMWare, and cloud.
  • Experienced with network/systems, maps, diagrams, flowcharts, charts, and other documents.
  • Familiar with network security and encryption technologies.
  • Familiar with using shell scripts to automate routine tasks.
  • Experienced in the use of MSP tools or other network management and monitoring tools.
  • CompTIA A+ education or training is preferred but not required.
