The Clinical Lab Supervisor is a key member of our team at Boston Children's Hospital, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our laboratory section. This role requires a strong leader who can supervise staff, ensure accurate and timely results, and implement quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and mentor laboratory staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
- Develop and implement procedures and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and laws.
- Collaborate with directors and managers to establish and implement technical and departmental procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and serve as a department representative to clinical programs.
- Orient new employees and ensure they complete all training and competency assessments.
- Monitor testing programs to ensure high-quality results and excellent customer service.
- Lead work groups to improve performance and apply quality principles and techniques.
- Interview and recommend candidates for employment.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, laws, and requirements of requisite agencies.
- Administer evaluation, promotion, and termination processes for staff.
- Supervise section participation in studies, research, publications, and public presentations.
- 5 years of clinical laboratory experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Current registration or certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) in one of the following areas: Certified Medical Technologist, Certified Technician in Hematology, Certified Technician in Chemistry, Certified Microbiology, Certified Technician in Immunology, or Certified Tech in Blood Banking or Registered Microbiology.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science.
