Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Newscast Director / Technical Director to join our team at Sinclair Broadcast Group. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in directing fast-paced newscasts with multiple live shots, graphics, video animations, and multiple studio cameras. Additionally, experience in directing and technical directing newscasts in a non-automated control room setting is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with the News & Engineering Department to ensure seamless production.
  • Maintain the production studio and control room to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform various tasks related to the position, including website contributions as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with producers, talent, and the production team through daily communication and collaboration.
  • Strive to maintain high production value with attention to aesthetics, accuracy, and show pacing.
  • Participate in pre-show planning for special segments, providing guidance and working with the crew on sets, lighting, and shot blocking.
  • Direct or act as crew for newscasts, special studio, and remote productions.
  • Provide clear and concise communication and direction to management, producers, engineering staff, and talent.
  • React effectively to fast-paced, live television and multimedia environments.
  • Participate in training less experienced production staff as needed.
  • Be a positive team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Requirements:
  • Possess a degree in a related field, preferably.
  • Knowledge of INews, Xpression, and Ross switchers is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Ross Overdrive or similar is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and a good visual sense are essential.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, thrive on deadlines, and work a flexible schedule.
  • Clear direction-giving skills while under pressure.
