About the Role:
The Barnes Group is seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist to join our team. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various CNC machines, ensuring the production of high-quality parts that meet engineering specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC machines, including Mazak, Haas, JohnFord, Mori-Seiki, and Okuma, in accordance with documented procedures.
- Load correct programs, fixtures, and tooling, and ensure quality parts are produced to engineering specifications.
- Verify setup through measurement of first-run parts and sample workpieces, and inspect parts to maintain quality records.
- Maintain equipment and supplies in work areas, and inspect tools for wear or breakage, replacing as needed.
- Adjust zero shift or references, set tool registers, and offsets, and troubleshoot malfunctions as needed.
- Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and needs.
- Notify supervisor of product discrepancies or equipment malfunction, and adhere to established company policies and procedures, including safety regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, and adhere to the Barnes Group Code of Business Ethics and Conduct.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience working in roles that require mechanical skills, including mechanical/air power tools and powered industrial vehicles.
- Working knowledge of computers and electronics, CNC's/CNC Machines, and basic programming and computer-aided manufacturing.
- Experience editing and optimizing G-code programs for maximizing efficiency is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience reading blueprints, and mechanical aptitude with attention to detail.
- Able to effectively communicate and follow instructions in verbal and written form, and self-motivated and team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
- Able to work well with minimal direct management oversight, and adapt and prioritize assignments in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Basic understanding and demonstrated experience complying with required safety and health expectations, and working knowledge of basic math and the ability to use measuring tools.
- Read and understand standard and geometric tolerances on blueprints, and physical dexterity.
- Good computer skills, and familiarity with multi-spindle/multi-turret machines is a plus.
- 5-7 years related experience, and High School Diploma or GED, required, with Trade School or journeyman experience, preferred.
