Clinical Laboratory Coordinator Lead

Job Summary
The University of Washington is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Coordinator Lead to oversee and assess daily tasks and workflows for Accessioning. This role will facilitate coordination of workflow, operational standards, and policies between Accessioning and other areas in the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, oversee and assess the daily tasks and workflows for Accessioning.
- Oversee and perform tasks related to internal case accessioning in the Pathology gross room, external case accessioning in the Pathology office.
- Facilitate the coordination of workflow, operational standards, and policies between Accessioning and other areas in the department.
- Maintain open and appropriate communication with direct supervisor and department leadership regarding staffing, workflows, and policies and procedures.
Standards of Performance
- Under the direction of leadership, create and maintain policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements for gross room accessioning, external accessioning, and additional material workflows.
- Create and maintain logs, forms, and other documentation regarding the acquisition and processing of materials for all areas of responsibility.
- Investigate and resolve problems and errors in all areas of responsibility.
- Create standards for outside communications related to all areas of responsibility.
- Use Pathology software and applications to process requests for consultation/reviews and to investigate errors in these areas along with monitoring the Expected List.
- Train and onboard new staff in Accessioning.
- Assign and direct the work of Accessioning staff as related to their standard duties as well as coverage needs.
- Regularly meet with staff and supervisors to review, revise, and/or implement process improvements.
- Interact professionally and communicate appropriately and clearly with physicians and staff in the Pathology department and other departments/institutions.
