Role Overview:


The Chief Safety Officer is responsible for establishing and maintaining a secure and safe healthcare setting for patients, visitors, and staff by overseeing Safety and Security Services within Norton Healthcare.

This role encompasses strategic leadership, providing guidance in the planning, development, and organization of safety, security, and emergency management initiatives. It includes directing policies and procedures to ensure adherence to OSHA and other relevant regulations, as well as implementing programs that promote a safe working environment, including safety training, emergency preparedness, and hazardous material management.


Core Responsibilities:
Efficiently manages daily operations, including staffing, budgetary constraints, and compliance obligations of the department. Cultivates a skilled and motivated team while ensuring fiscal responsibility in budget management.

Implements safety and security protocols through collaborative efforts across the organization.

Evaluates and proposes modifications to policies and procedures in alignment with organizational and regulatory standards, following consultations with the Security, Safety, and Emergency Preparedness leadership.

Develops and oversees comprehensive safety and security strategies. Conducts training sessions for staff and leadership, performs inspections, and organizes emergency drills. Ensures that all construction projects comply with safety and security regulations.

Manages the collection, assessment, and reporting of safety and security data. Provides the Environment of Care Committee and other relevant stakeholders with insights and recommendations.

Qualifications:

Essential:

With a Bachelor's Degree:
Five years of experience in safety, security, law enforcement, or military leadership.

Without a Bachelor's Degree:
Nine years of experience in safety, security, law enforcement, or military leadership.

Preferred:
Master's Degree
