Job Summary:

As a Medical Director at Sun Life Health, you will be responsible for promoting and maintaining patients' health by providing healthcare services under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director. This role requires a high level of expertise in patient care, with a focus on delivering exceptional healthcare services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Examine patients, take medical histories, record results, and make preliminary diagnoses of disease, illness, and injury
Assess patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, and obtaining and updating medical histories
Identify short-term and long-range patient care issues and provide information and recommendations for course of action
Order diagnostic tests, such as X-rays, electrocardiograms, and blood work, and interpret test results
Perform therapeutic procedures, such as immunizations, injections, suturing, and wound care, and manage infection
Instruct and counsel patients on therapeutic regimens and promote wellness and health maintenance
Develop and implement patient care plans, instruct and counsel patients, and record progress
Work in triage and make decisions on patient care needs
Maintain outpatient records by documenting patient care services
Record statistics, conduct research, and compile reports as needed
Perform referrals to specialists, write prescriptions for medications and equipment, and perform office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment
Provide general health education on matters such as proper diet, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance
Assist physicians as required for emergency treatment and procedures that are more complex
Instruct nurses, medical assistants, and back office assistants on assistance with patient care

Qualifications:

Completion of an approved nurse practitioner or physician assistant program
Board certification or board eligible in Family Practice
Current approval by the Joint Board of Medical Examiners and Board of Nursing to perform medical acts
Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Arizona
Master of Science in Health Sciences or related field required
