Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team at MDPerm. This is a unique opportunity to work in a detention environment, providing comprehensive and urgent care to individuals detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide acute, emergent, and chronic healthcare to patients in compliance with IHSC policy and guidance.
  • Perform comprehensive history and physical evaluations, behavioral health care, and minor outpatient surgical procedures as required by the medical condition.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, prescribe medications, and provide treatment throughout the life span as appropriate to discipline and facility setting.
  • Participate in and comply with court-ordered treatment plans, including evaluation and treatment of patients with psychiatric illness or life-threatening conditions.
  • Provide full-spectrum healthcare to include treatment of gender dysphoria and pregnancy.
  • Consult with staff physician, clinical director, and/or IHSC consultants as required by policy and for complex medical and/or psychiatric patients.
  • Provide infirmary care, including admission, discharge, and daily rounds for patients requiring a higher level of care and monitoring.
  • Interpret Tuberculin skin tests (TSTs) and diagnostic studies, manage Direct Observation Therapy (DOT) for treatment of active or latent tuberculosis.
  • Take appropriate infection control actions in accordance with IHSC policy and guidance.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program or Family Nurse Practitioner program.
  • One-year full-time equivalent of experience in primary care as a licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license.
  • Board Certification by either NCCPA, AANC, or AANP.
  • Unrestricted license to prescribe controlled medications from the DEA and in the state where the duty station is located.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association, CPR for the professional rescuer through the American Red Cross, or the American Safety and Health Institute.
Work Environment

This position requires availability to work day and evening shifts, weekends, and holidays. Rotational on-call duties may be required, with compensation for on-call hours.
