Position Summary: Lead Teacher

Role Overview

The Lead Teacher plays a crucial role in overseeing and directing all aspects of an AEA Hutto classroom, ensuring the effective application of our distinctive preschool curriculum. This position involves creating a nurturing learning environment that fosters the social, physical, and intellectual development of children, regardless of their individual backgrounds or abilities.

The Lead Teacher must possess a strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and will take the initiative in maintaining a safe and orderly environment for all children in their care. Effective communication with families and collaboration with fellow educators are essential to support the overarching objectives of AEA Hutto. Comprehensive training is provided, with ample opportunities for professional growth within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the daily schedule and curriculum, ensuring clear communication in both verbal and written formats.
  • Maintain accurate records of child observations and notes for parent-teacher conferences, held at least biannually.
  • Conduct regular assessments to monitor developmental progress.
  • Engage with children and model appropriate social behaviors in various settings.
  • Communicate respectfully and effectively with families.
  • Adhere to all safety and security protocols, documenting any incidents as required.
  • Supervise all children, ensuring a secure and supportive learning environment.
  • Utilize digital tools for attendance tracking and communication with families.
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment, reporting any hazards to management.
  • Prepare the classroom for daily activities, maintaining an orderly and welcoming space.
  • Encourage positive interactions among staff and children, respecting individual backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Plan and organize curriculum materials in advance of implementation.
  • Open and close the classroom as scheduled.
  • Participate in maintaining accreditation standards and fulfilling related classroom requirements.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development as mandated by AEA Hutto or regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Compliance with state licensing requirements for education, including in-service training hours.
  • Meet all educational and experiential standards set by state and accreditation authorities.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a licensed or accredited childcare setting is preferred.
  • Staff Credential or degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
