Job Summary:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse with The MetroHealth System, you will provide direct nursing care to inmates/patients in a correctional facility. You will work under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician and be responsible for serving an underserved, high-need population experiencing mental health issues, substance use disorders, and complex medical needs.

You will provide nursing services to patients in accordance with the scope of the Licensed Practical Nurse license and uphold the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to inmates/patients in a correctional facility
  • Work under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician
  • Serve an underserved, high-need population experiencing mental health issues, substance use disorders, and complex medical needs
  • Provide nursing services to patients in accordance with the scope of the Licensed Practical Nurse license
  • Uphold the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved School of Practical Nursing
  • Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the State of Ohio through the Ohio Board of Nursing
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certification
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year experience in an in-patient or long term care setting

Physical Demands:

  • May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day
  • May need to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift pounds with assistance
  • Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance
