ROLE DESCRIPTION
As a full-time faculty member, you will provide instruction that enables students to meet course learning outcomes, engage in scholarly activities for professional growth, and contribute to the overall success of Pacific College and its students. Faculty members are expected to embody the college's core values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and assess the philosophy and learning outcomes of the nursing education program.
  • Design and revise the curriculum as needed.
  • Document faculty and committee meeting actions systematically for program review.
  • Teach 12 student-facing units, including both didactic and clinical courses.
  • Manage 3 administrative units each semester.
  • Oversee on-campus assessments and coordinate accommodations for students.
  • Ensure necessary resources are reserved for on-campus activities.
  • Participate in course simulations and skills labs.
  • Attend all committee meetings and chair at least one committee.
  • Maintain a presence on campus three days a week.

Didactic Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging instruction in both classroom and virtual settings.
  • Create a conducive learning environment that addresses current nursing issues.
  • Support students' academic progression and integration into the nursing profession.
  • Utilize diverse assessment tools to evaluate student learning effectively.
  • Actively engage in curriculum design and program evaluation.
  • Mentor faculty, adjuncts, and students, demonstrating leadership.
  • Stay updated on professional development opportunities.
  • Advise nursing students and develop success plans for those at risk.
  • Maintain accurate grade records and submit grades punctually.
  • Conduct analysis of course metrics and prepare end-of-semester reports.
  • Provide accessible office hours for student support.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Instruct students at clinical sites and in skills labs, serving as a content expert.
  • Facilitate the application of theoretical knowledge in clinical practice.
  • Maintain communication with clinical agency representatives and staff.
  • Address any clinical concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Grade clinical assignments and provide timely feedback to students.
  • Ensure compliance with college and clinical facility policies.
  • Participate in required orientations and evaluations.
  • Complete necessary reporting on student performance and outcomes.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
In addition to teaching responsibilities, full-time faculty will be assigned administrative duties to support departmental functions. This includes serving as Course Lead, overseeing adjunct instructors, and connecting students with college resources for their success.

PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS
Faculty must demonstrate competence in teaching and develop policies for student admission, progression, retention, and graduation. Candidates should possess:

  • A current Registered Nursing license from the state of California.
  • A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years of direct patient care experience.
  • Preferred teaching experience in a registered nursing program.
  • Certification as a Nurse Educator and specialty certification is advantageous.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires light physical activity and close visual acuity for various tasks. The work environment is typically office-based with moderate noise levels.
