Role Purpose
The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare meals in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as our internal policies and procedures, ensuring that high-quality food service is consistently delivered.
Key Responsibilities
- Review menus prior to food preparation.
- Inspect special diet trays to ensure accuracy.
- Participate in workshops and seminars as required.
- Prepare and serve meals that are both appealing and nutritious.
- Assist in meal service as needed and ensure timely delivery.
- Engage in various physical activities including sitting, standing, bending, and lifting throughout the workday.
- Be prepared for frequent interruptions.
- Work may extend beyond regular hours, including weekends, and involve temporary assignments in other roles as necessary.
Education
- A minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D. is required.
- Preferred: At least one year of dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or related medical environment.
- Ability to prepare a variety of foods in large quantities.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Capability to follow both oral and written instructions.
- May need to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies weighing over fifty (50) pounds.
- Must possess the ability to taste and smell food to assess quality and palatability.
