Position Overview:
The Acute Care Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist plays a vital role in delivering healthcare services by aiding in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This position involves performing CT scans and related techniques, generating images for evaluation by licensed medical practitioners. The technologist operates a CT scanner to capture images that assist in diagnosing and treating various patient conditions. Utilizing expertise in imaging methodologies and cross-sectional anatomy, the technologist ensures the production of high-quality images for review by radiologists and other healthcare professionals. Adjustments to technical settings and scanning parameters are made to optimize image quality while minimizing unnecessary radiation exposure. Routine quality inspections and maintenance of the CT scanner are conducted in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and organizational policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required:
- Completion of a Radiology program accredited by the Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) or an equivalent qualification.
- Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Radiologic Technologist (R.T.(R)) with an advanced registry in Computed Tomography (R.T.(CT)).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, obtained within 60 days of employment.
- A minimum of two years of experience in radiology as a registered technologist.
Preferred:
- At least one year of experience in CT imaging within a trauma center (level I or II).
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts CT examinations and procedures for various hospital departments, including NICU, CCU, and ED, as requested by medical staff.
- Assists radiologists and other healthcare professionals during imaging procedures.
- Performs ancillary tasks to ensure proper distribution, billing, and archiving of imaging studies.
- Documents all necessary information for accurate interpretation, reporting, and retrieval of imaging studies.
- Retrieves written orders and relevant health information to facilitate timely performance and reporting of imaging studies.
- Engages in the implementation and monitoring of quality indicators as outlined in the strategic plan.
- Operates independently in a complex, acute care inpatient environment.
- Provides training and support to colleagues.

- Flexibility to work beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.
- Availability for on-call duties to address organizational and patient needs promptly.
- Proficient in effective communication, both in person and through various technologies.
- Ability to manage challenging situations, including interactions with distressed patients or families.
- Capacity to perform repetitive tasks as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
