Job Description

**Job Title:** Machine Shop Manager

**Location:** Hampton, VA

**Job Summary:** We are seeking an experienced Machine Shop Manager to oversee and manage the daily operations of our Machine Shop in Hampton, VA. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating, planning, and directing personnel, managing inventory and production schedules, and ensuring that scheduled deadlines are met.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Supervise employees who assemble component parts to make assemblies, subassemblies, packaging, or completed units.
  • Coordinate and plan personnel, manage inventory and production schedules, and ensure that scheduled deadlines are met.
  • Responsible for the workflow, processes, work holding, tool holding, and maintenance of machinery to ensure the plant operates at maximum efficiency.

**Requirements:**

  • 6 years of relevant progressive experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or 4 years of relevant progressive experience with a Master's degree in a related field, or 10 years of relevant progressive experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government clearance.

**Preferred Requirements:**

  • Experience leading teams in a high-paced work environment.
  • Experience working with DMG Mori Machine Tools.
  • Familiarity with Siemens OS and NX CAM.
  • Vocational school or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Great verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated, or automated tools and machine tools.
  • Ability to use precision tools (e.g., calipers) to take accurate measurements.
  • Ability to read drawings, blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
  • Knowledge of metal properties and other materials.
  • Outstanding mathematical skills and analytical abilities.

**Physical Requirements:**

  • May be required to visit job sites in an industrial or shipboard environment.
  • Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level.
