Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist Assistant to join our team at Chi. As a key member of our therapy department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer treatments to patients under the direction of a supervising Speech Language Pathologist, utilizing knowledge and skills in therapeutic exercises, activities, and equipment to promote habilitation and rehabilitation of cognitive, linguistic, pragmatic, and dysphagia conditions.
  • Instruct and supervise rehabilitation technicians and student affiliates in a respectful, courteous, and consistent manner.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records, ensuring legible documentation in patient charts and completion of reports in an organized, thorough, and timely manner.
  • Foster effective communication with patients, families, other therapists, physicians, nurses, volunteers, and hospital personnel to achieve goals and establish departmental support, attending and contributing to multidisciplinary rounds and departmental meetings.
  • Provide patient and family education, including information on outside resources to meet specific patient needs.
  • Participate in departmental and hospital performance improvement plans, understanding and contributing to quality and patient safety initiatives.
  • Attend departmental and hospital inservices, actively engaging in continuing education and professional development.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree from a Speech Language Pathology Assistant Program or Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field.
  • Licensed by the State of Texas - Assistant in Speech-Language Pathology/Intern in Speech-Language Pathology; eligibility to begin clinical fellowship period.
  • American Heart Association CPR/BLS Certified.
