Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Ophthalmic Technician 2 to join our team at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. As an Ophthalmic Technician 2, you will play a vital role in assisting ophthalmologists in gathering patient data and maintaining a safe and efficient environment for eye care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and document patient visual assessments, including tangent screen visual fields, pupillary evaluation, and ocular surface assessment.
  • Conduct basic ocular motility exams and review systemic and ocular medications.
  • Administer eye drops and record patient allergies.
  • Perform intraocular pressure measurements and pachymetry.
  • Insert and remove contact lenses and conduct visual acuity tests.
  • Provide support to providers by documenting patient charts and providing patient-centric care.
  • Adhere to University of Miami policies and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Participate in clinical research and maintain required certifications.
  • Organize and stock rooms for daily clinical activities.
  • Travel to satellite eye centers as needed.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification.
  • 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of ocular anatomy, function, and motility.
