JOB TITLE: ASC Administrator
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES : The ASC Administrator oversees the management and leadership of all medical staff and is accountable to the Senior Vice President of Operations for the coordination of all medical services provided and the associated support functions of the ambulatory surgical center.
REPORTING : Senior Vice President of Operations

Major Functions and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility of the ASC Administrator is to lead and foster a collaborative team environment.
The ASC Administrator is tasked with the distribution and execution of assigned responsibilities in daily operations. She/He interprets departmental philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures.
Areas of Accountability for the ASC Administrator include:
• Supporting surgeons by ensuring the availability of well-prepared service team members.
• Delegating responsibilities to professional, technical, and support staff.
• Conducting performance evaluations for all department personnel.
• Coordinating administrative tasks to ensure efficient staff operations.
• Managing the provision and control of materials, supplies, and equipment in collaboration with the Director of Supply.
• Overseeing activities within the Operating Room suite.
• Acting as the Risk Manager Designee.
• Undertaking additional responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Vice President of Operations.
Fiscal Management
• Monitoring budget adherence through daily service activity assessments.
• Contributing to the development of the service budget.
Standards of Nursing Practice
• Ensuring compliance of staff members with nursing care standards.
• Reporting nursing compliance to the Senior Vice President of Operations.
• Demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan and the necessary skills to provide age-appropriate care to patients. The Administrator should be able to interpret patient data to identify age-specific needs and deliver appropriate care.
• Supporting cultural practices as long as they do not harm others or interfere with medical treatment plans.
Policies and Procedures
• Ensuring staff adherence to policies and procedures.
• Explaining policies and procedures to team members.
• Enforcing compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Reporting non-compliance to the Senior Vice President of Operations.
• Providing counseling and disciplinary actions for non-compliance among Ambulatory Care Services personnel.
Staffing and Utilization of Services Personnel
• Assigning personnel based on competency levels and patient needs.
• Ensuring fair staff assignments.
• Participating in the selection process of service personnel in consultation with the Senior Vice President of Operations as necessary.
• Completing and posting the service personnel schedule.
Staff Development
• Actively engaging in weekly nursing and clinical staff meetings.
• Evaluating the orientation program for new nursing and clinical personnel.
• Communicating educational needs of nursing and clinical staff to the Senior Vice President of Operations.
• Monitoring staff compliance with annual re-certification requirements.
Services Environment
• Daily monitoring of the service environment to ensure safety and infection control compliance.
• Reviewing monthly reports of radiation detection badges and taking necessary actions.
• Ensuring staff knowledge and participation in fire and disaster safety protocols.
• Reviewing electrical safety and ensuring all equipment is inspected biannually.
• Monitoring temperature and humidity controls and taking corrective actions as needed.
• Reporting environmental issues to the Senior Vice President of Operations.
Performance Improvement Program
• Reviewing monthly improvement activity results and reporting to staff during regular meetings.
• Communicating with and providing feedback to the Senior Vice President of Operations regarding corrective actions for performance improvement deficiencies.
Education and/or Experience:
• Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent; or two to four years of related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
• Current Registered Nurse License.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage several abstract and concrete variables.

Occasionally, excessive strength may be required to restrain confused or combative patients during and after anesthesia induction.

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS : Normal busy office environment with significant telephone work. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
