Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Irrigation Systems Technician to join our team at Collin County Community College. As a key member of our Grounds Department, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our district irrigation systems, as well as overseeing irrigation crews in the absence of the Irrigation Specialist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair: Assist in the maintenance and repair of all district irrigation systems, including minor installation projects, while addressing water conservation principles and practices.
  • Leadership and Oversight: Oversee one or more district irrigation crews in the absence of the Irrigation Specialist, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Inventory Management: Help maintain inventory of parts needed for irrigation system maintenance and keep the parts stockroom clean and organized.
  • Reporting and Communication: Prepare and submit reports on irrigation system maintenance and repairs, as well as coordinate tasks with the Grounds Manager or Grounds Foreman.
  • Additional Tasks: Perform other tasks such as mowing, edging, planting, pruning, and other landscape-oriented job functions, as well as identify and initiate solutions to landscape problems.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of irrigation experience, with the ability to obtain a TCEQ Irrigators License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licenses and Certifications: Must possess a current State of Texas driver license and obtain an Irrigation Technician License within one (1) year of employment.
Working Conditions

This is a medium-work position that requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly. The position involves working in a variety of environments, including outdoors and in areas with exposure to risk.
