Private Music Educator

Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated individual to provide instruction in various musical instruments, including voice, piano, and ukulele, through private lessons on a part-time basis. Initially, this role may offer up to 18 hours per week, with the potential to expand to a 25-hour part-time position that includes benefits such as pension, life insurance, and paid time off as the student base grows.

Kroc Center Mission:
Aligned with the mission of The Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Division of The Salvation Army, The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center aims to provide enriching programs and services that positively impact children, adults, and seniors.
Role Responsibilities:
The music educator will be tasked with delivering both group and individual music lessons, crafting educational materials, and fostering partnerships within the community.
Key Duties:
- Conduct individual and/or group music lessons.
- Design and execute educational curricula, assessment tools, and lesson plans for each course. Regular updates and summaries of activities should be submitted to the Arts & Education Manager.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships for music programming with educational institutions and community organizations.
- Engage in recruitment and outreach initiatives as directed by the Arts & Education Manager.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings.
- Be open to teaching additional classes and workshops as required.
Qualifications:
Applicants should meet the following minimum criteria:
Education:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Music or equivalent professional performance experience.
Experience:
- A minimum of three years of teaching experience, with five years preferred, in either classroom or private/group settings.
- Demonstrated record of musical performance experience.
- Experience in developing educational curricula.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues in a leadership role.
- Proactive and self-motivated.
- Performance experience in the specific area of instruction.
- Timeliness in starting classes and maintaining the learning environment.
- Familiarity with music literature.
- Educational philosophy aligned with that of The Salvation Army.
- Positive demeanor and adaptability.
- Commitment to promoting the mission of The Salvation Army.
- Must obtain Safe from Harm certification within 60 days of employment.
Supervisory Role:
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands:
Physical requirements for this role include:
- Effective communication abilities, including speaking, hearing, and vision, along with excellent manual dexterity.
- Capability to lift, pull, and push materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to bend, squat, and walk.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods.
Work Environment:
This position is based in an office environment with standard room temperature and typically low noise levels. During outdoor events and community activities, the employee may encounter varying weather conditions and moderate to loud noise levels.
