Role Summary:
Metric5 is actively seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to spearhead a software development initiative within the Department of Defense / NGA. The ideal candidate will collaborate with an Operations and Maintenance team to securely manage and implement updates to an existing web-based knowledge repository, leveraging AWS Cloud technologies across all client domains.

This role necessitates close collaboration with fellow engineers, product managers, designers, and clients to collectively make informed decisions and deliver valuable software solutions efficiently. A commitment to maintaining secure, high-quality, reliable, and available software solutions is essential, along with a quick learning aptitude.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Over 5 years of experience in system administration, system patching, and related functions.
  • Design, provision, monitor, and administer AWS-based applications.
  • Implement Microsoft Core Technologies on AWS.
  • Manage file access rights and ensure compliance with security protocols.
  • Hold a Security+ Certification.
  • Oversee system security and patching processes.
  • Install and configure operating systems on servers.
  • Provide Tier 2 troubleshooting for server-related issues.
  • Possess experience with OpenShift.
  • Monitor system health and resolve hardware and software challenges.
  • Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Address customer support inquiries effectively.
  • Be available for occasional after-hours and weekend work to resolve operational issues.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of AWS services and hands-on experience in resource provisioning.
  • Design and operate high-availability applications across multiple availability zones and regions.
  • Incorporate disaster recovery design principles into application architecture.
  • Utilize monitoring, logging, and cost management tools that integrate with AWS.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to integrate non-functional requirements into application architecture.
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related technical field, along with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Understand Microsoft domain and networking technologies.
  • Exhibit a strong comprehension of computer technology and the ability to quickly learn new software products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS Certification.
  • Experience with Service+.
  • Proficiency in configuring and maintaining Windows Servers.
  • ITIL Foundations certification.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, particularly in a Government context.
  • Experience in an on-call role for emergency response to application or system issues.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related technical field required, with 5+ years of experience in system administration and related duties.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years in relevant roles.

Clearance: Must be a US Citizen with TS/SCI Clearance.

Required Certification: Security+ certification is mandatory.
