Supervising Psychiatrist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervising Psychiatrist to join our team at NYC Health + Hospitals. As a key member of our mental health leadership team, you will be responsible for providing clinical oversight, management, and supervision of our psychiatric staff in one or more of our jail facilities in New York City.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical individual and group supervision of psychiatric prescribing staff, including psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and psychiatric physician assistants.
- Design, implement, and monitor clinical facility-specific procedures, policies, and operating manuals in coordination with the Mental Health Unit Chief.
- Collaborate with other relevant disciplines within the mental health, medical, nursing, and operations departments, as well as the Department of Correction.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and report on an as-needed basis to the CHS Morbidity and Mortality review committee.
- Participate in policy revision and creation, and practice guideline creations, related to psychiatric care, including input into the psychiatric medication formulary.
Requirements:
- Graduation from a medical school approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association.
- Completion of an acceptable internship in an approved hospital.
- A license to practice medicine in the State of New York.
- Certification by American Board in field of specialization or a faculty appointment of Associate Professor or higher in a medical school recognized by the American Medical Association.
- Eight (8) years of satisfactory full-time paid experience in field of specialization including at least three (3) years in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
