Electrical Control Systems Designer

Position Title: Electrical Control Systems Designer
Department: Controls Engineering
Location: Onsite Role
Experience: 3-8 Years
Key Responsibilities:
Develop comprehensive controls solutions and electrical design packages based on customer specifications and standardized design practices.
Requirements:
Three years of experience in electrical control systems design, preferably in the industrial automation field. Proficiency in ePlan and AutoCAD, as well as the ability to stay up-to-date with leading-edge technology, is essential.
Key Accountabilities:
- Collaborate with mechanical designers to design a control system that enables the machine to perform its intended function safely and reliably.
- Formulate and produce complete electrical design packages, including detailed electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and material requisitions, based on Client standard specifications and customer requirements.
- Work with the Controls Engineering Department and other groups to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology, focusing on enhanced safety, functionality, and reduced costs.
- Ensure that labor budgets and material budgets are adhered to or improved upon.
- Specify all electrical and controls-related hardware and software and produce requisitions for material purchases.
- Integrate third-party equipment and electronic component entry into electrical design packages.
- Verify that electrical design packages are complete, accurate, and safe based on sound design practices and accepted standards.
- Work with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems and provide a complete, functional system.
- Provide customers with training specific to their current project.
- Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Client Code of Business Conduct.
- Work in compliance with divisional health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Report any unsafe conditions or acts.
- Report defects in equipment or protective devices.
- Ensure the use of required protective equipment for assigned tasks.
- Attend required health, safety, and environmental training.
- Report accidents/incidents to the supervisor.
- Assist in investigating accidents/incidents.
- Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running, or rough and boisterous conduct.
Education:
A post-secondary technology diploma or engineering degree or equivalent, specializing in electronics, electrical, or controls technology.
