Job Overview

Position Summary
The Transportation and Classroom Support Specialist is responsible for the safe transportation of children to and from educational institutions and various outings. This role requires the individual to ensure that the vehicle is consistently maintained and compliant with all relevant state regulations. Additionally, the specialist assists the Lead Teacher in executing the educational curriculum and managing classroom activities.

The specialist supervises children during rest and recreational periods, engaging with different age groups across various classrooms. The aim is to foster the social, physical, and cognitive development of the children while collaborating with the educational staff to create a nurturing learning environment and keeping parents updated on their child's progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely transports children to and from schools and outings, adhering to all state driving regulations and practicing defensive driving at all times.
  • Complies with company protocols regarding injury management and accident reporting, promptly notifying management of any incidents or hazards.
  • Conducts visual checks to ensure each child is securely buckled before vehicle operation and communicates safety requirements clearly to all passengers.
  • Assists children in boarding and exiting the vehicle, which may involve lifting and ensuring a safe environment.
  • Operates the vehicle within the limitations of the driver's license and informs management of any medications that may affect driving capabilities.
  • Maintains a distraction-free driving environment by refraining from using electronic devices while operating the vehicle.
  • Regularly cleans the vehicle, including disposing of waste and maintaining overall cleanliness.
  • Reports any suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities as mandated by law.
  • Participates in all required staff training sessions and meetings.
  • Treats each child with respect, acknowledging their unique backgrounds and needs, including those with disabilities.

Classroom Support Duties
  • Assists the Lead Teacher in implementing the educational curriculum, including preparing age-appropriate lesson plans.
  • Observes and assesses each child's development, providing feedback to the Lead Teacher regarding individual progress.
  • Engages with children in both classroom and outdoor settings, modeling appropriate social behaviors and facilitating physical activities.
  • Conducts regular observations of classroom dynamics to ensure activities align with children's interests.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy learning environment by adhering to all policies and procedures and communicating potential hazards.
  • Provides regular updates to parents regarding their child's social and intellectual growth.
  • Creates an engaging classroom atmosphere through the display of student work and other educational materials.
  • Responsible for daily classroom management, including attendance tracking and cleanliness.

Qualifications

Driver Requirements:
Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records check and meet state driving licensing standards. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous experience in a licensed childcare setting is preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Floater Requirements:
Must meet state educational licensing requirements and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a licensed childcare environment is preferred, along with certifications in CDA and CPR/First Aid. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary.
