Senior Structural Engineer

Position Overview:
Empower your career with Qualus as a Senior Structural Engineer. In this capacity, the selected candidate will be responsible for the design and detailing of mat and pier type foundations for substation infrastructures. The role also encompasses the design of substation structures, which may range from basic equipment supports to complex overhead line towers. All tasks will be executed with a strong focus on quality and project budgeting, adhering to client specifications and the internal quality control and assurance protocols of the company.
The candidate may also undertake substation design tasks as required. Responsibilities will include applying relevant codes and client standards to create general arrangements, equipment and electrical layouts, elevation views, grading and fencing plans, foundation plans and details, substation rigid bus configurations, structural details, and material bills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate comprehensive conceptual design plans during the initial phases of new projects.
- Collaborate with renewable energy developers and other clients, providing support tailored to schedules and cost assessments.
- Design foundations utilizing commercially available software such as LPILE.
- Create steel structure models for rigid bus and equipment supports.
- Implement the company's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes.
- Establish and nurture professional relationships with external business partners; effectively present information and address inquiries from individuals or groups of clients.
- Lead and/or participate in client meetings and site visits to gather or provide design and engineering data.
- Guide less experienced personnel in a variety of technical and project management competencies.
- Coordinate efforts with other engineering disciplines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- 8+ years of experience in civil structural engineering calculations.
- Proficiency in drafting software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation is advantageous.
- Possession of a Professional Engineering license.
- Experience in transmission, distribution, and generation stations is a plus.
- Strong analytical and computer skills are essential, with the ability to identify necessary software for design tasks.
