About the Role

This is a technical/supervisory position responsible for implementing the landscape programs of the institution. Work involves planning, scheduling, directing, training, landscape design and supervision of work and subordinates.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Designing landscape projects for the institution, working closely with the Grounds Superintendent.
  • Reading and interpreting landscape and construction blueprints, plans and specifications.
  • Assisting with the selection of pesticides and fertilizers.
  • Planning and directing ground maintenance programs for the control of weeds, plant diseases, and damaging insects.
  • Providing supervision to Grounds Maintenance staff.
  • Providing training programs for staff in the areas of safety, environmental design, planting techniques and maintenance.
  • Assisting Grounds Superintendent with the selection and purchasing of trees and plant materials.
  • Assisting Grounds Superintendent with establishing and revising as necessary related policies and procedures.


Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture from an accredited college or university and 3 years experience maintaining landscapes. Supervisory experience is preferred.
