Job Summary:

The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing all mammography and bone densitometry procedures in a timely manner. This role requires a high degree of competency and experience with CT procedures, as well as the ability to accurately comprehend and interpret verbal orders and directions.

Responsibilities:

Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures.
Performs necessary quality control and maintenance on equipment.
Responsible for the care and cleanliness of equipment, supplies, and work area.
Performs all Mammography and Bone Densitometry procedures as per procedure protocols, optimizing imaging examinations to use only the radiation necessary to produce diagnostic-quality images.
Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and directions.
Assures the safe and accurate delivery of patient care at DHR Health.

Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited radiology program required.
Current state certification (i.e. Texas Medical Board) required.
Current American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) general certification required.
American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) Mammography certification within twelve (12) months of hire required.
American Heart Association BLS certification required.
American Heart Association ACLS and PALS recommended.
Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
Secretarial experience and organizational skills are necessary.
Good verbal and written communication skills required.
Ability to read, write, and speak English required. Spanish preferred.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians.
Computer knowledge required.

Working Conditions:

The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.
