Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Cook in preparing and serving meals, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for campers and staff.
  • Purchase and prepare food for cookouts, adhering to ACA standards and state health regulations.
  • Maintain the kitchen, food storage, and dining areas to meet ACA standards and state health laws.
  • Monitor and maintain freezer and refrigeration temperature levels.
  • Assist with unpacking, inventorying, and storing deliveries.
  • Clean restrooms, dining hall, shower house, activity areas, and public visitation areas as scheduled.
  • Complete end-of-season reports and procedures as required.
  • Attend and participate in pre-camp training as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the Council's goals.

Requirements:

  • Current Safe Serve Certification, preferred.
  • Training in food service management and housekeeping.
  • Ability to assist preparing meals for large numbers of people.
  • Ability to work with food service equipment and maintain a safe and orderly kitchen.
  • Knowledge of appropriate clean methods for kitchens, restrooms, shower houses, meeting spaces, and common areas.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others as well as individually.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Insurable under the Council's policy for driving and proof of personal vehicle insurance.

Working Conditions:

  • Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, moderate lifting and carrying (up to thirty (30) pounds).
  • Full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Occasional need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to focus on detail and accuracy of work product.
