Job Title: Recreational Therapist

At Addiction and Mental, we are seeking a highly skilled Recreational Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will play a vital role in providing Adventure Based Counseling and leisure assessments to patients struggling with chemical dependency.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive assessment plans in leisure, physical disability, psychomotor performance, and play.
  • Formulate activity plans for patients based on assessments, ensuring a safe and engaging experience.
  • Schedule and implement a variety of activities to meet the needs of our diverse patient population.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient participation in activities and provide leisure education as needed.
  • Manage the Adventure Based Counseling Course, ensuring safety inspections, proper equipment, and general safety for patients.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, managers, clients, and prospective clients to provide exceptional care.
  • Present a professional demeanor and appearance, maintaining coherent and articulate speech, and being responsive to patient needs and concerns.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Regular attendance and adherence to treatment plans.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy or a related field and current certification (CTRS) or other recognized National Certification.
  • Experience working with adult and adolescent chemically dependent individuals, with at least one year of experience in the field of behavioral health.
  • Valid Alabama driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Certification in CPR and first aid.
  • Ability to see at 20/40 corrected in each eye and hear (hearing aid acceptable).
  • Emotional and physical ability to function under stressful situations.
  • Two years of continuous verifiable sobriety (if recovering).
