Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lifeguard to join our team at Heathrow Country Club. As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our members and guests while they enjoy our aquatic facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pool Safety and Supervision: Implement and administer all water safety procedures and policies, supervise members and guests in and around the swimming pool, and ensure the pool and surrounding areas are safe and clean.
  • Customer Service: Greet all members, guests, and employees in a warm, friendly, and service-oriented manner.
  • Pool Maintenance: Perform required pool pre-opening duties, vacuum the pool bottom, empty the automatic skimmer, skim bugs and other debris from the surface, and prepare the pool for daily use.
  • First Aid and Emergency Response: Administer care to swimmers' minor injuries, such as small cuts and bruises, and respond to emergencies in a timely and effective manner.
  • Program Development and Implementation: Assist in organizing clinics and private swimming lessons for members and guests, and suggest pool-side activities and games.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain all necessary records, report needed items, and inform the Swimming Pool Manager about unresolved member or guest disruptions that could cause a safety problem.
Requirements
  • Education and Certifications: High school education or equivalent, current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate, and American Red Cross Basic First Aid certification.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to swim laps and dive to the bottom of the pool, possess strong oral and written communication skills, and demonstrate knowledge of pool chemistry, rescue and surveillance techniques, CPR/AED, and blood-borne pathogens.
  • Physical and Mental Demands: Requires the ability to push, pull, and safely lift up to 50 pounds, ability to walk, stand, bend, stretch, twist, or reach, stoop, climb stairs, balance, and/or crouch, and maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
Working Conditions
  • Work Environment: Work is performed in an outdoor setting in a busy, noisy environment, with varying conditions including heat, humidity, slippery, and wet surfaces.
  • Schedule: Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.
