Pool Lifeguard Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Pool Lifeguard to join our team at the City of South Lake Tahoe's Recreation and Swim Complex. As a Pool Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of swimmers and patrons, responding to emergencies, and maintaining a clean and safe aquatic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor pool activities and respond to emergencies
  • Enforce water safety rules and regulations
  • Administer first aid and CPR as needed
  • Perform daily pool maintenance and cleaning tasks
  • Participate in regular in-service trainings and drills
Requirements:
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
  • First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
  • Ability to pass a basic swim test and in-water rescue drills
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions:

Pool Lifeguards work in an indoor/outdoor aquatic environment, exposed to seasonal climate and weather conditions. They may be required to work in slippery surface conditions and respond to emergency situations.

Physical Demands:

Pool Lifeguards must be able to sit, walk, stand, and swim for prolonged periods. They must also be able to bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and lift, push, and pull up to 200 pounds when responding to emergency situations.
