We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team at Polytainers. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment, and for performing maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance and repairs to facilities equipment, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and grounds-keeping systems.
- Ensure all safety, security, and fire regulations and policies are followed.
- Monitor and control Building Automation Systems (BAS) to optimize energy efficiency and performance.
- Repair and maintain material handling systems, including rail car unloading systems, vacuum pumps, and motors.
- Inspect and maintain roof top equipment, including A/C units, exhaust fans, and ventilation systems.
- Assist in the installation and relocation of new or existing equipment and piping.
- Perform minor gardening and lawn maintenance tasks, including mowing, weeding, pruning, and watering.
- Complete and maintain related records, including maintenance logs and security incident reports.
- Transport equipment, furniture, and supplies manually and/or using aides such as dollies and carts.
- Operate Sky-Jack or Zoom Boom as required.
- Industrial Millwright and/or Gas fitting license (in Ontario) is required, as well as a high school diploma.
- Five years of registered trade level experience in building and utilities maintenance is required, with a minimum of two years' experience in the Plastic industry, specifically in molded plastics and/or food packaging industry.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is required.
- Strong mechanical ability and ability to replace bearings, bushings, shafts, gears, and belts is required.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
- Good basic understanding of the principles of pneumatics is required.
- Proficient in the use of mechanics' hand tools and in using precision measuring tools and machine shop equipment.
- Familiarity with building automation is an asset.
- Knowledge of pneumatics and ability to read mechanical drawings and blueprints is required.
This position requires heavy lifting and prolonged standing. Walking, climbing, reaching, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling are required in this position.
