Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Specialist to join our team at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an individual with expertise in environmental health, safety, and hazardous materials management.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the storage and processing of incoming radioactive liquid and dry waste from the University and UNC Hospitals, as well as supervising the disposal of medical waste.

This position requires a strong background in occupational safety and health regulations, as well as experience in managing hazardous waste operations and emergency response. The ideal candidate will have a 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training certification and RCRA hazardous waste training certification.

In addition to these qualifications, the selected candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to convey complex information to mid-level managers and administrators.

We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, paid leave, and a variety of health, life, and retirement plans.
