About the RoleThe MaineHealth Cancer Care Network (MHCCN) is in search of a dedicated Hematologist Oncologist to provide inpatient consultative services at the Maine Medical Center (MMC) in Portland, ME. This role offers the opportunity to be part of a comprehensive cancer care program recognized for its quality and integrated services.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in a statewide, integrated care delivery network serving southern, central, and coastal regions of Maine and eastern New Hampshire.
- Engage with a leading cancer care provider, serving over 6,800 analytic cancer patients annually.
- Contribute to a program accredited by ASCO QOPI, COC, NAPBC, and NAPRC.
- Work within a fully integrated system that includes surgical oncology, radiation oncology, palliative care, and patient support services.
- Involve in a robust research program affiliated with the NCI's Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP), with opportunities to lead clinical trials.
- Attend dedicated virtual board meetings for various cancer types multiple times a month.
- Hold a faculty position at Tufts University School of Medicine and participate in the Hematology-Oncology Fellowship Program.
- Manage hematology and oncology consultations across multiple services within MMC.
- Work a schedule of 40 weeks per year, Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm, with support from advanced practice providers and fellows.
- Experience a rotation of 3 weeks on duty followed by a week off.
- Provide navigation support for patients transitioning from inpatient to outpatient care.
- Supervise and educate fellows, residents, and medical students during consult rotations.
- Utilize a state-of-the-art acute hematology unit for inpatient care, with dedicated faculty support.
- Medical degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a Residency/Fellowship at an accredited program.
- Board Certification or Eligibility in Oncology or Hematology and Oncology.
- Ideal for physicians seeking flexible schedules with minimal outpatient responsibilities and call burden.
