Job Summary
The Medical College of Georgia is seeking a distinguished faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to take on a pivotal role as the Center of Operational Medical Director. This individual will oversee the educational and operational aspects of the Center, which encompasses various domains such as Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Tactical and Military Medicine, Disaster Medicine, Wilderness Medicine, International Medicine, Maritime Medicine, and Concierge Medicine.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Duties - 30%
Provide leadership and supervision to instructors, staff, and faculty within the Center of Operational Medicine. This includes managing all functional areas related to EMS and collaborating with the National Training Center East for the National Disaster Life Support Foundation (NDLSF) program. Responsibilities also involve coordinating instructor courses both domestically and internationally, and acting as a liaison with regional and state EMS offices, as well as federal and state law enforcement agencies.
Training and Education - 60%
Lead and coordinate tactical medicine education and training programs, including TCCC, TECC, and STORM. Ensure support for local Special Response Teams (SRT) and supervise Critical Care Transport and Critical Care Paramedic training. Additionally, coordinate medical support for community events and conduct various continuing educational programs, ensuring alignment with current clinical practices and EMS service standards.
Quality Assurance and Research - 10%
Assist in research initiatives within clinical or laboratory settings, identify funding opportunities, and participate in grant writing. Oversee Quality Improvement processes for EMS services, ensuring that all equipment and supplies are maintained and functional.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a terminal degree. The ideal candidate for Assistant Professor should have early career experience with appropriate postgraduate training, while candidates for Associate Professor should have at least five years of experience at the Assistant Professor level or equivalent. For the Professor rank, candidates should have a minimum of five years at the Associate Professor level or equivalent experience.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, retirement plans, and tuition waiver options. Faculty rank and salary will be determined based on experience, education, and credentials.
