Job Summary

The Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) provides strategic leadership and management to the Adult Medicine and Oncology department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and services. This role is responsible for overseeing the administrative and financial aspects of the department, including budget planning, human resource management, and operational oversight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Adult Medicine and Oncology department
  • Oversee the administrative and financial aspects of the department, including budget planning and human resource management
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and services
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to achieve organizational goals and objectives
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the department, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field
  • Master's degree in nursing or related field preferred
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in Virginia and eligible AHA BLS Certification or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible healthcare supervision/management experience, including 7 years in a management and/or leadership role within hospital operations
  • Progressive nursing leadership experience leading Medicine and Oncology inpatient adult areas
  • Experience in leadership role at a Cancer Center, Magnet Designated hospital, university or academic cancer center
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience leading and/or partnering within a matrixed Cancer Service Line structure
  • Previous experience working in healthcare system with either a Commission on Cancer Accredited Program or National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation as a Cancer Center or as a Comprehensive Cancer Center
  • Previous leadership experience designing and opening a new adult hospital and facility
