Job Summary

A Youth Basketball Referee Opportunity is available with the City of Cape Girardeau. As a part-time official, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and fair play of youth and adult basketball leagues and tournaments. About the Job

As a Youth Basketball Referee for the City of Cape Girardeau, you will be officiating games and enforcing the rules of the game. You will also be responsible for ensuring the safety of all participants, securing a hazardous-free playing area, and conducting yourself in a respectful, confident, and secure manner. This is a rewarding job that requires a strong understanding of basketball rules and regulations, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Some of the key responsibilities of this job include:
  1. Officiating games and enforcing the rules of the game.
  2. Ensuring the safety of all participants.
  3. Securing a hazardous-free playing area.
  4. Conducting pre and post-game duties, including meeting team captains/coaches and rule interpretations.
  5. Conducting yourself in a respectful, confident, and secure manner.


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of basketball rules and regulations, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You will also need to be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be able to communicate effectively with participants, coaches, and other officials. This is a part-time job with flexible scheduling, and you will need to be available to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Estimated Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $15.00 - $20.00 per hour, depending on experience.
