About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at Children's of Alabama. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our patients, families, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol hospital grounds and buildings to detect and prevent security breaches
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, including crisis de-escalation and detainment of suspects
  • Enforce organizational policies and procedures to maintain a safe and secure environment
  • Collaborate with emergency responders, such as police, fire, and ambulance personnel, as needed
  • Conduct investigations and prepare reports on security incidents
Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet minimum criteria of Children's Fleet Management Policy
  • Ability to pass background checks through the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and Department of Human Services (DHS)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to comprehend and apply policies, procedures, and concepts
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in law enforcement, security, or emergency operations
  • POST skills completion, International Association of Hospital Safety and Security (Basic), First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or OSHA first responder certifications
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI)
